What is acrylic glass?
Acrylic glass is a lightweight alternative to traditional glass that can have many applications in the home or office. Acrylic glass tends to transmit more light into the interior of a building, as well as having a higher impact strength.
How is acrylic glass used?
Acrylic glass is often used for skylights, picture framing and aquariums among a variety of other purposes. It is also an excellent choice for external applications such as in greenhouses and shed windows, and for any projects that require a durable transparent material that’s weather resistant.
How is acrylic glass made?
A catalyst – such as an organic peroxide – is applied to a liquid monomer and poured into a mold where a chemical reaction takes place. The mold is then placed in a water bath to cure the acrylic and is opened once cooled.
Is acrylic glass safe?
Yes. Acrylic glass is shatter proof and more lightweight than glass. It is safe for indoor and outdoor use, and is weather resistant for long-term durability.
